  • July 2012: Appointment of members of the Decadal Plan Steering Committee.
  • September 2012:
    • Appointment of members of Subcommittees of the Steering Committee.
    • Presentation by National Committee for Mathematical Sciences to the annual meeting of the Australian Mathematical Society in Ballarat, Victoria.
  • October–December 2012: Subcommittees and Steering Committee to identify and discuss themes and issues to guide contributions to the Decadal plan.
  • December 2012: Appoint Project Officer(s).
  • February–April 2013: Project Officer to present information about the Decadal Planning process at key locations around Australia, consult with key groups and collect and present responses to the steering committee.
  • May–August 2013: Steering Committee to analyse and identify major strategic actions and recommendations.
  • September 2013: Progress report to be submitted to the National Committee for Mathematical Sciences, for presentation to the Academy Council.
  • December 2013: One-day workshop to present major strategic themes and actions to stakeholders.
  • December 2013–July 2014: Finalisation of subcommittee reports.
  • July 2014-February 2015: Integration of subcommittee reports.
  • February 2015: Draft document presented to community, external stakeholders, National Committee for Mathematical Sciences, Academy Council for comment.
  • March 2015: Integration of comments
  • April 2015: Video conference to obtain feedback from mathematical sciences stakeholders.
  • May 2015: Report finalised.
  • June 2015: Report submitted to Academy Council for endorsement.
  • July 2015: Report formatted for publishing
  • August 2015: Briefing for high level external stakeholders
  • September 2015: Printing of report
  • Late 2015: Publication and launch of “Investing in the Future of Mathematical Sciences” document.
